James F. ParkerJames F. Parker served as CEO and Vice Chairman of the Board of Southwest
Airlines from June 2001 until July 2004, three of the airline's most
challenging years. He was promoted to the position after 18 years as
General Counsel to the company and seven prior years serving as their
outside counsel.
He is a member of the MIT Leadership Center Advisory Council at the MIT Sloan
School of Management and is also a member of the Board of Directors of the
Texas Roadhouse restaurant chain.
During his tenure as CEO, he was proud that his organization's accomplishments
led Southwest to be named the most admired airline, and one of the three
most admired companies in America each of the three years; to be named
worldwide airline of the year by Air Transport World magazine; to be named on e
